SWAG doesn't consider all that side-to-side racking of the table a problem... they say fixing the design to eliminate that would make the table too expensive and leave it up to the buyer to come up with a fix for that.

I have had mine about two weeks, I have learned a few things and had to make a modification that's cheap and turns the subpar vice into a safer more secure method of clamping the stock. let's look at the vice as is, you will notice that the pivot shaft nut has to be rather loose in order to slide back and forth, this slop makes tightly clamping stock difficult when the item is below the acme shaft line, like a 1x1x1/8 angle (using that silly V block makes cutting square cuts hard because the stock can't rest on the table, you have to shim it to keep it square 🙄) when you attempt to tighten the vice the top tilts over and the bottom edge of the swivel pad digs into the table, if you look that puts undue stress in the slot areas. like I said tighten the nut on the bottom and you can't slide the vice. If you disassemble the vice you will see what's happening, The pivot shaft passes all the way through the pad into the slot and when you tighten the nut it won't pull down the pad only the shaft, leaving the pad sloppy. Now the fix, get one 1" flat washer and one 7/16 flat washer, with the vice disassemble place the 1" washer between the table and the vice swivel pad, next put loctite blue on the shaft threads, ditch the OEM SAE washer and place 7/16 washer between the locking nut and the table slot then slowly tighten the nut and check for movement back and forth. ensure the pivot pad shaft is centered around the shaft and 1" washer the shaft will keep the washer in place. a bit of dry lube will let it slide easily. now your vice will work better, helping it stay more square and not putting so much stress on the table slot. there's a lot going on here with these saw and it's $100 carbide blades, these "slow turning cold saws" are cheap alternatives to thousands of dollars precision slit saws used in production, the weakness in our saws is the clamping system, fiber cutoff blades will allow some stock flex but the carbide needs stable stock or you end up ripping teeth out of the blade from smashing into the side of the kerf. Most of the time we have little problem when working with big flat stock. and I understand the need not to cut stock flat like square tube but the V- bloc is about useless. that V needs to be on the fixed side of the vice ( that's my next project, making custom blocks for different size stock. Evo needs to beef up the clamping system, even if it makes the saw $100 more. In all after the washer mods I love this thing, made dozens and dozens of cuts of all shapes and sizes super clean and square, beats the pants off of the damn fiber cut off blades and the mess, hell this saw is better than my old Delta horizontal ban saw (that thing never cut square) only draw back is the expensive carbide blades, you don't have room to goof around or the bill adds up. Nice video, thanks
